1.2. Marriage registration

Marriage registration process in HERA

The marriage registration process in HERA consists of a number of standard steps which are described below:

Declaring a marriage

A marriage declaration is initiated by a user with the Registrar or Data entry clerk role. Only partners already registered in HERA will be able to apply for a marriage. To fill in a marriage declaration, information about both partners (Partner A and Partner B) must be filled in. As part of the declaration process, HERA validates the entered information using a number of configurable validation rules. These are part of the HERA workflow configuration.

Approving a submitted marriage declaration

The submitted declaration will be auto-assigned to a registration office for approval. This is done using a configured workflow structure. If the registrar who has submitted the declaration is a member of this registration office, he can assign the task of approving the submitted declaration to him or herself..

The registrar is someone with the official government role in HERA who will look at the collected data. Based on the provided evidence, the registrar will confirm that the marriage registration is correct and approve the registration.

Registration and Certification

Once the submitted marriage declaration has been reviewed and approved, it is officially registered and a digital marriage certificate can be issued to the partners. In practice, this marriage certificate will be printed on (secure) paper.
